Though the fall weekend brought a bit of rainy weather, Sunday’s schedule was adjusted to start earlier than usual in order to present as much tractor pull action as possible before the afternoon showers. The Eastern New York Benefit Tractor Pull once again drew participants from throughout the greater Capital Region, as well as some folks from Vermont and Massachusetts. Peter Goebel, the former Rensselaer County Veteran Service Agency director, who passed away earlier this month.Īnother highlight of the weekend was the garden tractor pulls, in which children were able to compete. A special tribute was also held to honor Col. “The people are very generous.”Īs part of Saturday’s activities, the tractor pull featured a program inviting veterans on the track to be recognized for their service. “This is amazing,” he said while watching the pulls on Sunday. ![]() The tractor pull is the largest fundraiser of the year for the DAV chapters, according to Joe Simonik, who represents DAV Chapter 38. “It allows our chapters to operate by funding them so that we can support veterans in this area.” “This is a great opportunity for a family-friendly event where we bring the community out and we support veterans at the same time,” said DAV’s Department of New York Commander-CEO Scott Stephenson, of Chapter 158. ![]()
